InVESTed Two

Similar to yesterday's outfit, I'm wearing another vest and it, too, is grey. (I notice that I go for a certain type of outfit in my closet each week- as if it's a theme for the week. I have been known to do this intentionally, but apparently do it un-intentionally, as well.) With this charcoal vest, I wore a plaid and antique lace charcoal scarf and a black pencil skirt and long-sleeved tee- just like yesterday, as well. Instead of black tights, however, I wore grey and, shown below, you will see that I'm wearing black boots (!!!), but I am chancing charcoal ankle boots at the moment. (Should still be in flats, probably...) For jewelry, I wore grey dangly earrings that go pretty well with this scarf- these are from the 80s, I think. For makeup: charcoal shadow and a bright lipstick.

Vest: have had so long, I cannot remember where it's from or the cost!
Scarf: gift from mother
Earrings: hand-me-down from Aunt, vintage ;)
Long-sleeved tee: hand-me-down from Godmother
Makeup: all Ulta

InVESTed

Today, I wore a grey vest that hasn't been worn in a while- I had to look at least a little more professional than usual since I'm presenting this evening. Hopefully this works with the black pencil skirt, long-sleeved tee and flats. (The vest is much cuter with dressy ankle pants and heels, but...you know....that cold-legs and no-heel thing right now.)

For jewelry, I wore a black, white and grey geometric gold-toned necklace and earring set. I tend to always wear this necklace with this vest since they match and, well, I bought them at the same time. For makeup, the same as yesterday- orange-red lipstick for a color pop and gold and black shadows.

Vest and jewelry set: local boutique- Flaunt, 50% off, $20/ 50% off: $7
Skirt: K-Mart years ago, $8??
Shoes: (same as yesterday)
Makeup: same as yesterday)

Shiny new things!

Today, I wore a top I purchased in October and haven't worn yet. In my defense I thought I might wear it around New Year's, but plans changed. With this elastic mock-neck, I thought these black gold-toned tassle earrings would go well. I wore a black pencil skirt with black gold-tone leather flats. The gold in the shoes and earrings go with the gold in my blouse. For makeup, I wore gold and black shadows and an orange-red lipstick to add some color to this outfit and so I'm not totally washed out. I wore my hair down with curls- I normally like hair up with a mock-neck top, but I was afraid this top ad earrings would like too dressy.

Blouse: JC Penney, clearance, $5
Earrings: NY&Co., sale, $7
Shoes: Aldo, clearance, $15-20? (have had them for a long time)

Romantical

Yesterday I needed to wear black so I went with this new top that I haven't worn yet. It's kind of romantical with it's lacy shoulders and high neck and statement sleeves. With the high neck it looks nice with a bun and I wore pearls and black rose jewelry. (The pearls match the buttons on the back of the top and the black roses match the lace.) For makeup, I wore just black shadow. For pants- high-waste ankle.

Top: NY&Co., sale, approx. $20
Pants: NY&Co, sale, $30
Pearl bracelets: given to me as a set
Rose bracelet: warehouse sale, $2
Rose earrings: eBay, $2?
Double-sided pearl earrings: purchased for my wedding (didn't end up wearing)

More pink.. for Valentine's Day

Yesterday, I decided on all pink and would have even worn matching shoes if I were able to put on some heels. But, I'm still in flats, so it just looks like I have no shoes on, these days, when I wear black tights.

In addition to this antique rose top, sweater and skirt, I wore a matching necklace that's accented with charms, pearls and fabric rings. To go with the necklace, I wore assorted pearl bracelets and dangly multi-tone earrings, also accented with pearls.

Since I wore aa black top underneath this blouse, I wore black tights and shoes and added a black belt to bring it all together. For makeup: antique rose and black shadows and a muted pink lipstick.

Top and skirt: Nordstrom Rack, $12.99, $19.99
Sweater: Frugal Fannie's, $16
Necklace: warehouse sale, $5
Earrings: Charlotte Russe (or Alloy), clearance, $3?
Bracelets: some came with different bangle sets and the others were given to me (stretchy pearl set)

Hate is too great a burden

It was MLK's birthday weekend, so I had to represent, as usual. I wore this custom-made MLK tee (that I outgrew years ago) with a long sleeved tee underneath, jeans and a floppy hat. I also wore these Adidas high tops that match perfectly since, they too, are navy blue and black. I just so happen to (still) have an Adidas backpack purse I've had since high school and it matches my sneakers to-a-T (pun intended).

For jewelry, I wore 'peace' and lotus flower Alex & Ani bracelets as well as a 'dream' Luca & Danni bracelet.

For makeup: navy eye shadow.

Tee: custom made years ago
Sneakers: Adidas sale, $22
Backpack purse: Bob's Stores, circa 1998
Bracelets: lotus flower and dream- gifts; peace- free with coupon

...I still have a dream...

Yesterday

More pink for Vday in...28 days! Really, though, I'm not sure I'm totally comitted to Vday colors just yet, but you may see a lot of pink in the upcoming weeks.

The top I wore today reminds of one an old school poet would have worn with it's puffy shoulders. (Isn't there a Seinfield episode about puffy sleeves?) With it, I wore a blush and cream crochet-lined scarf (very similar colors to yesterday). I wore black pull-on dress pants (with socks) since it's SO cold out. For earrings, I wore cream danglies that have a similar pattern as the lace on the scarf. I wore blush ruffle flats (again, like yesterday) to go with the scarf since I'm really just sick of wearing my black flats. For make-up, you got it!- the same as yesterday's colors!

Top: Express, 50% off sale, approx. $20-25
Pants: NY&Co, Doorbuster deal, $15
Scarf: Christmas gift a couple years ago
Earrings: warehouse sale, $2
Flats: Family Dollar, $8

Too early for Valentine's Day?

I've been holding off on wearing pink since I was planning on pulling it out for Valentine's Day, but it's less than a month away anyway. Today, I wore this puff-shoulder blush blouse with ruffle blush flats and satin-belted high-waist black pants. For jewelry, I wore a cream and blush rose accent statement necklace that fits perfectly in with the deep v-neck on the blouse. I also wore stackable rings including a cream rose, a pink flower, and faux diamond and pearl accented- all which match the necklace perfectly- as well as cream and pink bangles. For earrings, I wore gold stick earrings to go with all of the gold accents. For makeup, I wore antique rose, cream and black shadows and a muted pink lip stick .

Painted Black

I'm working another event, so black and white it is! This is my first time wearing this dress, however, so it makes my night less awful. I think this will look cute with black and white heels and, also, in the summer.

Since the sleeves have ruffles, I wore wavy hoop earrings. I also wore a black and white beaded necklace with silver accents, to match the silver earrings, and  black eyeshadow.

Dress: NY&Co., 50% off sale, $29
Earrings: given to me from Aunt
Necklace: given to me from Godmother
Makeup: Ulta

Sugar plum

This skirt was on the top of the clean clothes laundry basket and it was late last night when I picked out my clothes, so I decided to wear it today and match it with this wrap. A couple years ago, when I got this wrap (for a borthday gift), I had been looking for a matching skirt and finally gave up. Well, this Christmas, my fairy Godmother gave me one! Though it's not the outfit I would like to wear (heels), I was still able to match some peach flats and wore black tights and a black top to bring them together. (Now, I need purple tights!) I wore minimal jewelry since this skirt has a silver zipper and most of the jewelry I would wear with these colors have gold tones. Today, I wore just peach rose studs. For makeup: antique rose and deep purple shadows and a muted antique rose lipstick.

Skirt: Christmas gift, from Godmother
Flats: Family Dollar, $8
Wrap: H&M, Birthday gift two year ago, from Godmother
Earrings: Rue 21, set of 3 or 6 pairs, clearance
Makeup: Lipstick and antique rose shadow: Ulta; Purple shadow: Secret Snowflake a few years ago

RRRuffles have RRRidges

Again, it was going to be a cold one, so I wanted to wear this cozy ruffle sweater. I almost wore it with a skirt, but I was out of fleece-lined tights, so pants, it was... with peach ruffle flats to go. To incorporate more peach, I wore a necklace with some tones and peach rose earrings. To also go with the wing charm and faux crystal in the necklace, I wore long strand earrings with (faux) crystals and a bauble bracelet as well as a wing heart Luca & Danni bracelet. Additionally, I wore a dark metal ruffle ring to go with the ruffles in the sweater and shoes. For makeup, I will silver and peach shadows and peach loop gloss.
