5 outfits, 1 pair of shoes- day 2

Day 2 wearing mint green shoes:

I wore a multi-colored chevron blouse, with gold button details down the back, and navy blue skinny pants. The mint green shoes and the mint green in the shirt contrast nicely with the navy blue, making the colors pull together pretty well. For earrings, I had many options because of all the colors in the top, but I wanted to keep with the mint green, so I wore mint green studs in addition to peach rose earrings in my second holes. I also wore a navy blue and gold watch to go with the gold details on the shirt, and the blue pants. Since these pants can seem casual, I made sure to wear my hair up to dress up the outfit. For makeup: coral lip crayon, Eye-shadows: peach and navy blue; navy blue eye liner gel

The Contrast Between Bright and Dark

Here we have a shirt that was a birthday gift about 10 years ago (then a size small and it still fits!!:) ) The shirt, while it mostly consists of bright pinks and corals, also has dark greys and goes really well this skirt. As to not wear too much darkness, however, I wore coral heels and also coral-accented bangles and a coral, leave-shaped ring to go with the leaves on my top. (I was bummed on my way to work when I realized I had a gold leave bib necklace that would have added a nice touch....) In addition to the bracelets and ring, I wore matching coral stick earrings that were purchased along with the ring. Then, to bring some grey back into this outfit, I wore my hair twisted up into a grey headwrap. For makeup: dark grey shadow, dark grey eye gel liner and coral lip gloss. For getting to and fro', I wore coral flat sandals.

One skirt, many ways

I always say how much I like this skirt because of the colors in it. I really can do so many things with it. This time, I wore this navy high-neck sleeveless top. Because I didn't want to wear black with dark blue, I went with black and white shoes (that also match the colors in the skirt) and added a white rose pin to pull together the shoes with top and to go with the flowers on the skirt (I didn't want too much dark!). I wore black rose earrings and a black head wrap (since I couldn't find the white one...) For makeup: black and white shadows and fuchsia lip gloss.

Skirt: K-Mart, clearance last year, $8

Pin: came with a skirt that was a gift years ago

Shapes vs. Colors

A friend handed down this top to me recently and, because of the colors, I looked forward to matching with it. However, I ended up having a difficult time. I was mostly concerned about matching my accessories with the shapes in the shirt with less focus on the colors. But, I still ended up wearing yellow rose earrings (there are no roses on the shirt, but tropical flowers instead) and a matching yellow beaded bracelet. I wore a simple, black pencil skirt and black and white heels to go with the black and white in the top. The colors I did have more fun with makeup; I wore sky blue, yellow and black eyeshadows and hot pink lipgloss. I wore my hair back in a twisted pony.

'round the way girl

Another top I haven't worn yet this summer. I was inspired when I realized this necklace, which I haven't worn since I got it for my birthday, matches really well. I paired the top with a camel pencil skirt to match the beige dots on the top. Since this is the only brown sweater I have to wear during the warmer weather (it's not my favorite), I had to be sure to wear dark brown shoes to even out the colors (camel shoes would be too much and the brown sweater would look out of place). These shoes even have little leave-shaped cutouts that go with the print on the shirt! ;) To go with the wooden beads on the necklace, I decided to wear a wooden bracelet. And then, to go with the shirt and necklace, I added teal bangles and teal round earrings (that also go with the circles on the shirt). For makeup: teal and dark brown shadows, teal eyeliner and gold lip gloss. Lastly, I swapped to a brown handbag to match my shoes.

Someone's got the Matchies

A couple Fridays ago, I decided to dress down a little with this casual grass-green skirt that was handed down to me. I didn't know what to wear with it, at first, but when I realized this necklace matched perfectly, I chanced this outfit with an aqua blue tee, which also matched the necklace. Then, to break up the color-on-color, I wore a braided gold belt and matching flat sandals. (The gold matches the tones in the necklace.) Then, I wore green rose earrings and a green and gold watch to go with the necklace. To finish up, I wore aqua and green eye shadows with aqua eyeliner and gold lip gloss and threw my hair into a wrap-around pony.

Feeling Pretty

A friend at work gave me a couple of big bags of clothes last week. Ever since I saw this dress, I couldn't wait to wear it-- I was drawn to the colors. First, I needed to figure out which color shoes to wear. I went with dark brown since there is brown in the dress. I needed something else brown- I couldn't have just the brown shoes--so, I wore a matching belt, which looks cute over or under this beige blazer. For jewelry, I couldn't decide which pair of earrings to wear, so I wore them both! Gold hoops with purple and fuchsia accent stones and red roses. I wore yellow-gold, purple and dark brown eye shadows, purple gel liner and red lip-stick for makeup. For even more fun, I added two matching ribbons to my hair.

Dress: Ralph Lauren, given to me
Blazer: came with a matching skirt and a belt. (I cut off the belt loops on the blazer and no longer have the skirt.)
Shoes: Charlotte Russe(?), clearance, $8-9(?)
Belt: came with a shirt, skirt or pair of shorts
Earrings: Roses: eBay, 6-pairs, $3;Hoops: K-Mart, clearance, .80 cents!
Makeup: Shadows: Yellow-gold: Tarte, a gift; Purple: Lancome: given to me from Aunt; Brown: Ulta, free with min. purchase; Gel Liner: Ulta makeup kit, Christmas gift; Lip stick: Ulta, free with min. purchase
Hair: Pulled into two pony tails, added a red ribbon to one, a purple to the other, then knotted into buns. Added one last bun at the bottom.
