How to recycle MORE doilies

This skirt came in the mail a few days ago (with the same shipment as mentioned in 'Attention to Detail')-- this one was also purchased for $8.00. When picking out what to wear with the skirt, I mirrored the ad in which it was modeled-- with a simple shirt and, pretty much the same shoes. The tip was to make a casual look dressy, but I did the opposite by making a dressy skirt, casual. :) For jewelry, I was given these silver and olive dangly earrings (shown below) for Christmas-- I thought of wearing them since they go so well with the print on the skirt, but I really didn't like how they didn't match the rest of the outfit, colorwise. Also, I liked the aforementioned casual look, so I wore daisy studs instead, which still match the skirt's print nicely. Speaking of the casual look, I wore my hair up in a high pony, just like I was back in high school. :)  Finally, I wore cream and black eye shadows and nude lip stick (to...you know...keep with the casual look).

Attention to Detail

I received this shirt in the mail the other day and it's just as cute on, as it was on the site I ordered it from. The best part: I paid $8 for it! I wore this asymmetrical side-zipper top with a solid colored skirt- as to not take away from the shirt's style-- and white wedges. Even more fun, I wore these triangle bronze earrings to match the color of the zipper... AND THEN (!!!) twisted my hair into a head band that goes perfectly with the design on the earrings, not to mention the colors on the headband (charcoal and bronze, with off-white beads!) For makeup, I wore white and charcoal eye shadows and a magenta lip crayon for some color.

Reuse and Recycle

My Godmother handed down this dress to me a few years back. And, for some reason (those few years ago), I felt like mixing it up with camel. So, every summer, I pull out a similar rendition of this outfit. This week, I wore the dress with camel wedges and a matching belt. The belt has a gold buckle, so I matched some older (hand-me-down) chandelier earrings that are camel and the same color gold. I wore a black rose and a white rose to both go with the flowers on the dress and to pull the black and white and camel together. To show off the earrings, I wore my hair rolled into a camel hair wrap. For makeup, I wore camel and black eyeshadows and gold lip gloss.

Dress: hand-me-down from Godmother
Earrings: hand-me-down from Aunt, from the 80s/90s(?)

Wind Chime Necklace....and my Aunts spoil me

You might remember this sweater from 'New Goodies!' My Aunt crocheted it (!!!) and it's such a pretty color. What's funny is it matches really well with this skirt, which I had pulled out a couple weeks ago so I could wear this necklace; I didn't realize the sweater matched until recently. So, instead of wearing the necklace my aunt gave me with this sweater, I wore this summer-themed necklace, which I like to wear at least once every summer (it's actually quite loud when I make movement and sounds like I'm wearing a wind chime). I generally wear this skirt with this necklace since they match nicely together. To go with the necklace, I wore gold earrings, that also go with the print in the skirt, and also, gold shoes. For makeup: teal and cream eye shadows and teal eyeliner with gold lip gloss.

Sweater: handmade and given to me from Aunt
Skirt: given to me from Godmother about 7 years ago
Necklace: Chico's, given to me from Godmother
Earrings: given to me from Aunt

How to recycle doilies

I didn't feel like putting much thought into today's outfit last night, so I grabbed from the 'I-need-to-make-sure-I-wear-this,-this-summer' side of the closet. I grabbed this olive green sleeveless shirt, which I have in three different colors, and paired it (safely) with a black pencil skirt (surprise, surprise!) The shirt has beige stamped lace with sequins, so I wore beige wedges and a light beige blazer. (This blazer used to have belt buckle, but I cut them off a while back.) Then, I wore black doily and sequins earrings to go with the 'lace' on the shirt and bring the black together into the outfit. For makeup, I wore cream and olive green eye shadows and gold lip gloss.

Sleeveless top: all three a gift from my mother
Blazer: purchased as a suit set about 9 years ago (no longer have the skirt)
Shoes: Rainbow Shops online, clearance, $7
Earrings: gift from a friend about 10 years ago
Makeup: All Ulta; Eyeshadow pallets: both free with min. purchase

Safari

This dress was given to me a few years ago, but I think it was salvaged from the nineties. When things are given to me, I like to try them out at least once. But...this one has made it out of my closet every summer since I've had it. The print is a bit wild, but the style is cute (high neck, button down, and A-line ankle length). And, if you haven't noticed yet, I like to accessorize with roses. So, instead of emphasizing the leopard print, I brought out the flowers on the print. (RULE: When one wears any sort of animal print, they should keep to one item to refrain from looking like the said animal.) I wore a black rose on a- yes- subtle, but animal print belt with black rose earrings and black rose wedges. The belt cinches my waist even more with the A-line, so the dress appears thinning. For makeup, I wore beige and black eye shadows and fuschia lip crayon.

Dress: given to me by aunt, 90's?
Belt: given to me (on a separate occasion) by aunt, 80s/90s?
Flower accessory: 3-in-1, eBay, $2
Earrings: eBay, 6/pk, $5
Shoes: XOXO, Shoe Dept. Encore(?), $15-20
Makeup: all Ulta, all free with min. purchases

Guest appearance #4

We went out to a birthday dinner last month and my friend wore an outfit I got really excited about. I liked it for a few reasons: 1) it matched really well and 2) it consisted of lots of aqua blue 3) a lot of the outfit was salvaged. Here you see a skirt saved from the nineties, if I'm not mistaken, and a matching sheer, floral vest. The high heels and lip gloss match the flowers on the vest. The jewelry set is from many moons ago- perhaps antique- as is the purse. Well done, friend!

Perfect

I hadn't worn this shirt yet this summer and it was supposed to be a hot one, so out it came! This shirt is fun because of the style, the print and the colors (not to mention the cut makes my arms look nice). Better yet-- I realized this necklace matches peeeerfectly! Once I realized I couldn't wear this shirt without the necklace, I decided to wear the green rose earrings annnnnd a green watch (which also has gold tones to go with the gold tones in the necklace) ! I was skeptical at first about this skirt since the caramel in the shirt is darker, but I balanced out the outfit with dark brown wedges. To keep with the retro look of the blouse, I wore my hair in a high, oversized bun. For makeup: green eyeliner, cream and dark brown eyeshadows and gold lip gloss.
