Colorful stripes

Here, I wore a fun, ruffly, multi-color striped wrap dress I picked up recently for a super discounted price! (Say that three times fast!) I've wanted this for a long time and finally found my size. With this many colors, there are so many possibilities for coordination, but this time, I highlighted the marigold with sandals, a handbag and tassel earrings. I added navy rose earrings, a coral palm leaf ring, coral beaded bangles, a coral beaded necklace and a yellow, fuchsia and white beaded necklace. Next time, I'll probably try more coral accessories instead of marigold. For makeup: coral lip crayon and marigold and navy shadows with navy eyeliner.

(Both) Earrings: 3 sets/asstd colors, eBay
Necklaces: coral: given to me from mother; white beaded: given to me from Godmother

Ombre

I wore this pastel ombre kimono with olive green high waist pants, a matching baby blue sleeveless lace bib-top and chunky heel sandals. For accessories, I opted for a light blue, round, woven handbag; pink marble acrylic hoops; baby blue rose studs; and a pink starfish ring. (Instead of blue tassel hoops, I went with the pink acrylic since they're gold and would match the ring.) For makeup: pink, light and dark blue shadows, blue liner, and light pink lipstick.

HOT pink

Two outfits- one color! At the very beginning of the summer, I wore a hot pink, geometric-print tube top (are these even still fashion-worthy?) with cargo jogger capris (not sure what else to call these) and florescent pink flat sandals. This was a chill outfit while I was running errands, so just threw in some peach stud earrings.

The other outfit was for work and, boy did I get a lot of compliments on this top! I picked it up recently and was excited to wear it- a high-low, mock-neck, geomtric-print white and florescent pink top, with black ankle pants (a different pair) of hot pink flat sandals. (Insert eye-roll here. Yes, I have two pairs of flat hot pink sandals, but it's a long story.) With this outfit, I added a gold, double-tiered v-shape necklace and gold triangle studs and gold bar earrings to go with the shapes in the top. For makeup: black shadow and hot pink lip gloss.

Coral Reef

Last month sometime, I wore this coral waist-tie blazer with thin, black dress pants and coral cutout, tie-up stiletto sandals. For the drive into the office, I wore flat coral and teal T-sandals, which are the inspiration for wearing teal accessories with this outfit- a teal beaded and silver statement necklace, teal bangles, a teal tank, and teal shadow and eyeliner. I also added a coral beaded necklace, coral bangles, a coral palm leave ring, and black, teal, orange and fuchsia doily earrings and coral lip crayon.

Don't ask why

I wanted to squeeze in one more Patriotic outfit (not sure why I'm even wearing these colors this year) l. I hadn't gotten to wear this blue, color-block, high-low sun dress yet, that I scored at the end of the season last year. With it, I wore red chunky heel sandals and matching tassel earrings as well as blue rose studs. For work, I threw on a white moto jacket. Makeup: navy liner and shadow, and red lipstick.

Dress: Charmed and Dangerous, garage sale, $5
Shoes: JC Penney, clearance, $11

For makeup: blue shadow and liner with red lipstick. 💋

The Next Holiday

I actually wore this outfit back in May when I was having lunch with a friend, but it's the week of July 4, so I figured it was a good time to post it.

Here, I wore these high waist tie, wide leg pants with a red sleeveless blouse, navy cardigan and red chunky heel sandals. Three pants are now in my giveaway bag because I just don't think they're flattering on me- the pleating in the front.

I added a chandelier earring and necklace set so I wouldn't look as preppy. For makeup, navy shadow and eyeliner with red lipstick.

Cardigan: hand-me-down from Godmother
Blouse: hand-me-down from friend
Pants: JC Penney, sale, $13ish
Shoes: JC Penney, clearance, $9-11
Jewelry set: given to me from Aunt

Happy Summer🌞

I worked from home on this day a couple weeks ago and, then, we went out for a casual dinner. In the summer, I tend to wear maxi dresses when I'm working from home. Here, I added a 3/4 sleeve coral sweater over a coral and natural-toned maxi. Instead of playing up the beige, I played up the grey that I think is in the print. I added a grey wrap belt, a long grey flower necklace and grey Chucks. Then, I added a long, coral beaded necklace, coral beaded bangles, a coral bead palm leave ring and matching coral bead stick earrings. I wore minimal makeup, but coral lip crayon.

Dress: hand-me-down, Godmother
Grey necklace and sweater: hand-me-down, Aunt
Coral necklace: hand-me-down, Mother
Belt: Charmed and Dangerous, garage sale, $2ish
Ring and earrings: Charming Charlie's, clearance, $4ish each

Juneteenth 2022

It's Juneteenth so I'm wearing my first ever, official CrossXColours sweatshirt- African colors yellow, black and green. 💚🖤💛 We couldn't afford CXC when I was a kid, so I got a cheap, fake version. But, this one here- yes, they still make clothes- was recently on sale, so I happily bought it with some CXC socks and a (Boyz in da Hood) hat, too. With the sweatshirt today, I wore just matching light green sneaks and jeans with a vintage marigold rope belt, and a too-tight-for-my-42-y-o-body grass green 3/4 sleeve tee. I added green rose earrings, a marigold headband and a marigold handbag which I threw an African scarf on. Lastly, marigold and black eye shadows.

Sweatshirt: Nordstrom Rack, CXC, sale, $20(!!!!)
Sneaks: Adidas, $20ish
Earrings: eBay, set of 6 colors

Belt: hand-me-down from Aunt, vintage 70s/80s

(Blush heels for the office.) I added rainbow beaded earrings, a blush metal bangle and a grass green wooden bangle along with a blush handbag. For makeup: fuchsia lipstick, blush and blue shadows and blue liner.

Spring grass

I was feeling colorful one day back in April (or May) with a grass green dolman sweater and aqua blue long-sleeved tee underneath. I wore a green and teal rose statement necklace, which was the muse for this color pairing and added matching green rose earrings, gold stick earrings and an oversized teal rose ring. For makeup? You guessed it! Teal and emerald shadows with teal liner.

On the bottom half, I wore black ponte pants and ankle boots. The ankle boots have gold hardware to go with my necklace and earrings.

🐘Save Your Community and the Elephants, yo! 🐘

This was my birthday, earlier this month. We went to breakfast and to the zoo, so I dressed comfy with skinny regular-hem-but-fit-me-like-ankle jeans with a pink, Boston cityscape Ivory Ella tee and pink Tom's slip-ons. Since the cityscape print has yellow in it, I added a vintage, mustard braided belt and a mustard knot headband. For makeup: pink and mustard shadows with a mauve highlight, and blush lipstick.

Tee: Ivory Ella, $25ish
Jeans: Old Navy, $12
Hoodie: Holiday gift
Shoes: Frugal Fannie's, Tom's, clearance, $24ish
Belt: vintage hand-me-down from Aunt (circa 1980s/90s)

True Blue

Last month, I went for a shopping date with my aunts. It was a sunny, but windy day and maybe in the 50s. I'd been really wanting to wear this sweatshirt dress with just navy ankle boots, but it was too chilly, so I added navy leggings. For accessories, I wore a multi-beaded bauble necklace with shades of periwinkle, teal, and blue, blue tassel earrings, a navy rim hat, a navy print handbag and a blue and periwinkle beaded ring. For makeup: blue and periwinkle shadows and fuchsia lipstick.
