Back up plan

The outfit I had originally planned. However, this necklace was included and, since I really wanted to wear aqua blue, I pulled something else together on a whim around the necklace. I ended up adding this aqua blue sheer cami with a lace skirt and black cardigan and heels. The floral print in the skirt goes with the flower on my necklace and the daisy earrings I wore, to go. For makeup, I wore aqua blue and black eye-shadows and gold lip gloss, to go with the gold tones in my jewelry. For a more professional look, I pulled my hair back into a pony (if I wore it down, it might look like I was ready to go out for the night).

Making a Faux Pas Work: Navy and Black

Wearing dark blue with black is a fashion no-no.... or at least it used to be. However, I really wanted to wear these navy skinny pants with this top, which does have both navy and black in it. I was originally going to try blue shoes and a navy blazer, but opted for black because of the black cap sleeves on the top (the black shoes bring the outfit together better). The blazer was also not an exact match to the pants and, in my eyes, it's worse to wear two shades of one dark color than black with navy. For jewelry, I tried to go with the print on the top and wore gunmetal spiky earrings and a gunmetal bracelet that has a similar design to the pattern. For makeup, I wore dark blue and black shadows and kept to gold lip gloss for a nude look-- if I had worn bright lips with this dark eye shadow, it would have been overkill. Hair: I wore it twisted half back for a dressier look.

Yee haw- Nashville!

Here's an outfit I wore to a Nashville-themed event a couple weeks ago. I wore a high-low crocheted vest with denim shorts and cowgirl boots. For accessories, I added an old belt of my mother's (from the 70's), antique gold dangly earrings (to match the belt buckle), as well as a small, brown cross-body bag (since we would be walking around), that also has antique gold tones on it. In addition, I wore a brown leather goblet with antique gold belt loops on it.  I loved this outfit!

From Boring to Dazzling

Work was celebrating it's 100 years a couple weeks ago, so I wanted to be spirited in black and white. Wearing these 'colors' as much as I do, I get bored, so looked through my closet to see if there was something I hadn't worn yet, or at least recently. And, there it was--a black and whit,  diagonally- striped sleeveless top that was handed down to me about 9-10 years ago! It looked great with a black pencil skirt and matching black and white heels. I chose a white cardigan over a black one since it brightened the outfit a bit. Then, I added this white and gemstone statement necklace with gemstone earrings- these go together really well, while not a set, because of the shapes of the stones. The jewelry makes the outfit a little bit dressier. For makeup, I wore white and black eye-shadows. 

Point in case: if you're bored with an article of clothing (or, in this case, colors), jazz it up with different accessories.

Day 6 wearing mint green shoes:

Today I wore my shoes with a floral kimono cascade top and earrings that happen to match perfectly, and high-waist straight-leg dress pants. For makeup, I wore green and black eye shadows and pink lip gloss. This outfit was simple to put to together since the top is colorful and easy to match with.  Everything else (tee underneath and pants) needed to stay solid as to not be too much color.

Day 4 of wearing mint green shoes: 

Today, I cheated a little bit-- I wore two articles of clothing with mint green, which means two mint green outfits turned into one! I wore a floral high-low skirt with a mint green lace racer-back. I was able to pull off lace with floral, which would normally be either a clash of prints or floral print overload, by wearing a coral wrap-around top over the mint. This way. it was just a subtle hint of green and flowery lace. To keep the colors leveled, I wore mint green and peach rose earrings (again). To tone down the color overload, I wore a grey blazer---there is grey mixed into the floral print on the skirt. I also wore a flower charm necklace and, for makeup: peach. green and dark brown eye shadows and coral lip crayon.

5 outfits, 1 pair of shoes- day 3

Day 3 of Mint Green Shoes: 

This swirly-patterned skirt was not originally part of mint green week and it looks like mint green week will be spilling into next week because there are more than 5 outfits! With this skirt, I wore a crocheted, short sleeve sweater and a necklace (both given to me together), a jewel and bead wrap bracelet, and mint green bow earrings. The bracelet and necklace match pretty well, but the colors in the skirt and bracelet look even better together. It's a stretch, but the swirly shape of the bow earrings kind of go with the swirls in the skirt. For makeup, I wore white, teal and dark brown (for contouring) shadows and a nude lip stick. I also attempted using a jade green eyeliner that was my mothers years ago-- it's probably from the nineties.
