French Scarf Knot

I pulled out this magazine clipping a couple months ago, which shows how to tie a scarf as worn in France. I've been wearing scarves for some time, but have yet to wear one this way. I matched this multi-color satin scarf with a light-blue sheer high-low button down. I highlighted the maroon stripes in the scarf with a maroon leave pin (appropriate for the season) and maroon heels. I also highlighted the white in the scarf with white pearl bracelets and earrings. Since the leave pin has gold tones, I kept with gold metals. One pair of my earrings were gold stick earrings topped with the pearls and one of the bracelets is from a bangle set I have, but this one has pearls, so it was a perfect fit. I also wore a white long sleeved tee underneath the sheer top because I was wearing black pants and needed to break up the black. The straight leg pants really show off the color and the straps of these shoes.

Doing Fall Things

We were going for a steam-train ride in the country among some other outdoor fall season activities. It was cool out, so wearing layers was key. I wore jeans and boots with a brown long-sleeve tee. Over the tee, I wore a light jacket with antique gold buttons and accents. Over the jacket, I wore a blanket scarf. To keep with my country bumpkin theme, I swapped to a crochet-lace backpack purse with cognac details and antique gold buckles, which also match the buckles on my boots (and the buttons on the jacket). To even further match the antique gold accents, I wore chandelier earrings in the same metal. Lastly, a tan and brown floppy hat.

Showing Spirit with a Flair

I was going to be in Boston on Saturday, so I wanted to show some pride and, also, spirit since the Bruins were playing that night. However, I wanted to do this without looking like a tomboy, which I am not. (I ended up wearing Chuck Taylors anyway, since I didn't know how far we were walking...) At any rate, I put on a (matching) white moto-zipper blazer and ankle boots with rolled up jeans. To add even more of a girly flair to the jersey shirt, I wore silver (never aging) hoop earrings. For makeup, I wore mustard yellow and black shadows to go with the shirt.

Brownie

The other day, I figured I ought to wear a light sweater/3/4 sleeves since it's fall in-between weather- cool at night and warm during the day. I wore this dolman sleeved, striped sweater with skinny khakis. For jewelry, I matched the sweater up with a gold and wooden fringe necklace, a wooden and gold bangle and brown and gold hoop earrings. I wore brown pumps, even though I wanted to wear beige and gold heels-- the outfit really needed brown shoes to even it out.  Lastly, I wore gold and brown eye shadows and gold lip gloss.

Khakis: Old Navy, $19
Necklace: Bebe, given to me from Godmother
Bracelet:Dot's, approx. 11 years ago

Ketchup and Mustard

I was given this sweater recently (a hand-me-down from my Godmother) and I decided to wear it with this lace and floral scarf since it has marigold colored flowers in it. The scarf also has maroon flowers, so I decided to wear this faux suede maroon skirt and matching heels. I wore black tights since that's all I have- and because they also match the scarf- with a black tee. For earrings, black roses. Makeup: maroon lip gloss and marigold and black eye-shadow.

Sweater: hand-me-down
Skirt: Rue 21, $9 clearance
Scarf: Ltd. Commodities, $5ish
Shoes: Charlotte Russe, BOGO, $11ish
Earrings: eBay, 6prs, $5

Fall into.....fall clothing!

We went to an outdoor block-party marketplace last weekend (which included a Zombie Fashion Show!!) I pulled out my floppy-fall-felt-hat and a black, white, and charcoal shawl to be in-season. I wore charcoal grey ponte pants with boots. For jewelry: silver spiky earrings and a same-metal bracelet along with silver bangles. During the dayyyy, at work, I wore a black pencil skirt and pointy heels...with no hat.

Shawl: Target, about 11 years ago
Pants: Kohl's, clearance, approx. $11
Boots: Rue 21, BOGO half off, $20 last year
Hat: Kohl's, clearance, last year, $5-7

New hair

Towards the end of the summer, I was reading through a dated magazine and saw this quick hairdo was trending. SO, one weekend, I decided to try it out with a casual, comfy top and arrow earrings to go with the pattern. Check it out...

Copy Cat

While on a wild manhunt online for a specific lace scarf I was looking for as a birthday gift, I fell upon this photo on Pinterest. I liked it so much, I decided to try to make my own rendition of it.It turns out that I have just about the same shoes except mine aren't patent and were also probably a lot less expensive. I wore them with high-waist, slim-cut dress pants (since I was wearing this to work) and a black and white (faux button down) top like in the photo. Then, I threw the blanket scarf over the top. Since it's not quiet that warm yet, I didn't try a long jacket like the model has on. For jewelry, I kept with gold to match the gold spikes on the shoes and wore gold and off-white bangles and gold stick earrings. The off-white in the bracelets goes with the off-white in the scarf and in the shoes. I also added some gold arrow earrings, some with (faux) diamonds, which also go with one of the bangles. For makeup, I wore red lipstick (to go with the scarf) and black and gold eye-shadows.

I would have never thought of this outfit on my own.

Bluh-ee Hell!

I had been wanting to wear these wide-leg dress pants since I hadn't worn them in a while. About a year ago, I was inspired by a magazine clipping (below) that had similar pants and v-cut shirt and, so I wore the same outfit again with the Ox-Blood shoes and all-- see Freaky Friday post. This time I added an off-white rose clip on a blazer since it's been cool in the morning. The rose matches the off-white lace on the scarf. For makeup: cream and black eye-shadows and maroon lip gloss.

Shirt: have had for about 8+ years
Pants: $7, clearance, TJ Maxx
Shoes: $15, clearance, Charlotte Russe
