Sock Hop

I had been wanting a long pleated skirt for a long time since they're in at the moment. So, when I walked by this one in the store, I had to check the price and it was do-able enough for me. Next was decided which color- I really kept going towards the gold. At any rate I (obviously) ended up with maroon and wore it here with a navy ribbon-embellished cardigan, navy tights and navy faux-velvet ankle boots. For accessories, I wore a light blue striped scarf that has some maroon stripes with maroon tassle earrings. For makeup: navy and maroon shadows with naby eyeliner and maroon lipgloss. I put my hair into a high pony, which made me look like I was going to a 50s sock hop.

The pleated skirt with a scarf  and button-down was inspired by a magazine ad I have, but failed to take a picture of.

First date?

When I walked by these pants in the store a couple weeks ago, they had to go home with me. (What ever happened to asking for a first date??)   ;)    At first, I picked the black ones, but opted for grey since I already have more black. I wore these charchoal high-waist ankle pants, adorned with black and white striped waist band, with a charcoal, black and white striped poncho, and charcoal ankle boots. For jewelry, I wore a long, multi-strand silver and black leather necklace with gunmetal spike earrings and a gunmetal bracelet and ring. For makeup: charcoal shadow and a bright lipstick.

This is the last maxi dress fall outfit I have to share (for now). Here, I wore a navy floral maxi with a white cutout ruffle sweater over it, antique rose ruffle boots and matching shawl. To the Gypsy That Remains

Another reason to wear a maxi dress in the fall: they're comfy and still cover your legs when it's chilly! I wore this tie-dyed high-low, ruffle maxi with a cream lace and button detail crewneck sweater and brown chunky knee-high boots. Then, I added a ton of accessories to go with the brown and light blue throughout the dress: cream and brown scarves, a wide brown leather belt, a wide brown leather cuff, brown wooden earrings, and finally, a two-toned light blue gemstone ring and matching charm on a multi-strand silver and gold necklace. For makeup: Brown shadow and liner.

Hint: the multi-strand silver/gold necklace and ring and charm bring together all of the metals on the other accessories- my boots have antique gold buckles and the belt has a silver one. One of my pet peeves is when the metals don't match.

Ring and charm: Secret Snowflake gifts
Multi-strand necklace: warehouse sale, $5
Earrings: Newbury Comics circa 2005ish
Scarves: Dots?, 2005/2006

When people think you're dressed for Halloween, but you're not

I wore this outfit the day before Halloween and someone (innocently) asked me if I was dressed for the Holiday. However, it may be one of my favorites.

What if you have limited articles of clothing that you want to stretch out every season? Or, you just want to wear some summer dresses one last time before they go away for the winter? In the next few posts, you will see how I added layers to repurpose some summer dresses so I could mix them with fall fashions.

Here, I wore a marigold sun dress with a black floral and lace scarf that has maroon and marigold mixed in. So, I added all maroon accessories to make this dress a fall-yellow rather than a summer-yellow: maroon wide-brimmed hat, maroon ankle boots and maroon tassle earrings. For makeup: maroon lipgloss and maroon and marigold shadows. To make the dress warmer for the weather, I added black leggings and a black long-sleeve duster that both go with the scarf, as well.

Dress: Charming Charlie's, clearance, BOG3 free(!!!)
Duster: hand-me-down from Godmother
Scarf: Ltd. Commodities, clearance, $5
Hat: Rue 21, clearance, $5
Shoes: Rue 21, clearance, $15
Earrings: Frugal Fannie's, $6?

Clint Eastwood/Pancho Villa

This outfit made me look like I needed a horse to ride so I could go save a burning town or village. Nonetheless, I thought it was adorable. Here, I wore a black, and grey aztec-patterned poncho with a black and grey wide-brimmed hat and matching grey ankle boots with frayed ankle jeans. For jewelry, I wore a (badass) black leather cuff, a long multi-strand black leather and chain necklace with two pairs of silver dangly earrings and a silver ring. (I actually put one pair inside the other since one set was missing posts, which I likely compromised for another pair at some point.) For makeup- bright lipstick with charcoal shadow.

Poncho: Rue 21, clearance a few years back, $5
Hat: eBay, $6
Shoes: The Shoe Store, $20
Ring: found on the ground
Cuff: Newbury Comics, years ago
Necklace: warehouse sale, $5
Earrings: both given to me from Aunt
