Matchy, Matchy, Merrily, Merrily

In case you're wondering, I disappeared for a short while because I was wearing only pajamas for a couple weeks with a foot surgery. But, I'm wearing normal clothes again, with the exception of heels. Sadly, I'm restrained to these flats since they're open on the top. Also, needless to say, I had many Holiday outfits planned that I haven't gotten to wear. As a result, today, I tried to squeeze three into one. It just so happens, this outfit was more fun to put together than I thought it would be!!

Logic: scarf matches green blouse, but I want to wear tights so my feet aren't cold. This means a skirt. Maroon skirt also matches scarf. I don't have maroon tights, but there is black in the scarf and I need to wear a tank underneath this blouse, so it will be a black one. Black rose earrings to go with the floral print on the scarf, but wait!! These cream statement earrings match perfectly with the cream patterned lace, too!!

Makeup logic: dark green, dark green, where's my dark green shadow? Oh, it must have broken. Oh! I know! Maroon shadow and, instead of this black liner- green!!! Maroon lip gloss to finish.

It's raining- need a hat. Meant to wear that beret yesterday, but it'll match today and keep my hair dry.

Ron Burgundy

I wore this outfit about a month ago- maybe on a Friday? It consists of a high-low, burgundy blouse and charcoal, black and burgundy plaid dress pants. The blouse really needed a necklace, so I added this   silver multi-dangly necklace and wore gunmetal spike earrings and a gunmetal bracelet. I wore black ankle boots and, for make-up, burgundy eye shadow and lip stick.

Blouse and pants: NY&Co., 50% off sale, $30 and $20
Boots: NY&Co., last year, $30
Necklace and bracelet: given to me from an Aunt (not a pair)

Stuck between seasons

This was the day before Thanksgiving break, so I wanted to wear a fall color. Talk about contradiction, though-- I wore a springy skirt! With the floral skirt, I wore a marigold turtleneck and marigold heels. For accessories, I wore black rose earrings and a black rose bracelet. Since the turtleneck was so long and not really meant to be tucked in, I wore a thin black belt to break it up. I wasn't crazy about the belt not matching the shoes, but it was better than without. For makeup: marigold and black shadow and I likely wore fuchsia lipstick (not shown).

Turtleneck: NY&Co., 50% off sale, $20

Ruffles, roses and lace- these are a few of my favorite things

I knew it was going to be a rough day when I picked this outfit- I thought that, if I wore something I loved, it would make me feel better about going into work. I wore this lace overlay antique rose mock neck blouse with matching ruffle booties and a cream, purple and antique rose floral shawl. I wore a tassel necklace that matches the shawl with antique rose and purple details. For bracelets, I wore cream and antique rose bangles and, earrings: gold stick to go with the gold in the necklace and bracelets. And, I added a cream rose pin to keep the shawl on. Lastly, gold, antique rose and cream rings and purple and pink eyeshadows with matte lipstick.

What a hoot

On this day, I was meeting up with my girls for brunch. Since I knew I wanted to wear this owl necklace, I wore this peach high-low top that matches a little with the pink tones in the owl's belly. For pants, black skinny and black ankle boots. For jewelry, I decided to wear this oversized red gem ring to match the owl's eyes and brushed nickel owl stud earrings as well as hoops. For makeup, I wore peach shadow and red lipstick.

One Day at a Time

I've been wanting a pair of high-waste, paper bag, wide-leg pants for about a year now and, finally, caved in. This particular pair is multi-color plaid, which makes them versatile, but also very 70s . However, I did manage to receive many compliments from other females- the hubby was not a fan.

With the pants, which I can do a lot with because of the colors. I wore a navy turtleneck and dark blue faux velvet ankle boots. When outside, I wore a pink jacket and, also, a reversible navy and white printed handbag. For earrings, pink rose studs and, for makeup: pink and navy shadows and pink lipstick.

Pants: NY&Co., 50% off sale, $35
Turtleneck: have had for years
Shoes: Kohl's, sale, last year, $25?

To mint or not to mint...that is the question

One might argue whether or not to where a spring color in the fall. Let's saaaay...mint. It's not a very fall color, but I wanted to wear this top one more time before I put it away for the season. Besides, it matches this very autumn shawl. With them, I wore a navy pencil skirt, navy tights and navy faux-velvet ankle boots. For accessories, I wore a mint green statement necklace and mint green stud earrings- these are both accented with gold, which go with the zipper on my skirt (not a mistake). For makeup: mint and navy eyeshadows and red lipstick, all to match the shawl. For hair, especially since I had stud earrings in (you wouldn't see them otherwise): a high pony.

Shawl: Rue 21, a few years ago, $5
Top: Charming Charlie, gift card, $15-20

Mustard belongs on hot dogs, not ketchup

I heart this outfit! I had my eyes on this high-low tunic for a while and, once there was a 50% off sale, I talked myself into buying it....along with matching heels. This day, I wore the top and heels with skinny pants and matching beaded chandelier earrings. For makeup, I wore mustard and black eye-shadows and a deep plum lipstick.

Top & heels: New York & Co., 50% off sale, $25/$30

Picnic table

The day I wore this outfit, we were going to a basketball game and basketball games mean black and white! I wore this adorable black and white gingham, statement-sleeved, mock-neck top with a black pencil skirt during the day and, at night, with jeans- both with black ankle boots. To accentuate the mock neck, I wore my hair in a high pony and added large black dot earrings. For makup, black and white shadow and red lipstick.

Girlscout cookie?

On this day, I was going to a recruiting event, so I wanted to look professional, but cute. I've always been drawn to camel and black together, so I HAD to have this matching skirt and blouse, especially since I knew I had the perfect shoes to go! However, even that day, I thought I should have worn black shoes. With the camel ones, I look like some sort of girlscout cookie (peanut butter pattie or caramel delight, anyone?) I wore gold stick earrings to match the hardware on my boots and the buttons on my top. For makeup: camel and black shadows and gold lip gloss.

Skirt and blouse: NY&Co., 50% off sale, $30/$24**
Boots: The Shoe Dept., last year, $20
Earrings: Charming Charlie, clearance, $4?
Makeup: Ulta

**(I paid more than normal for each item than I ever usually would,
but I will be able to do a lot with each item, particularly the skirt).

Not sure where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been

I'm not sure where I was going, but it must have been a warm fall day- perfect for jeans and a shawl. With this combo, I wore ankle moto boots and a floppy hat with patterned dangle earrings (to match the pattern on the shawl). For makeup, I wore charcoal grey eyeshadow.

Boots: The Shoe Dept, $30 (replaced a two-year-old pair I wore down too much)

Brownie

A couple weeks ago, we went for some blues music at a local dive bar, so I wore this charcoal and brown faux-leather sleeve jacket. With it, I wore matching brown boots and a brown tote bag for local shopping and a tiny crossbody for the bar. To go with the hardware on the boots and handbags, I wore long antique-gold earrings. For makeup: dark brown shadow and eyeliner.

This jacket is not only comfy, it's also versatile: I wear it casual or dressy, for work.
