Oldies, but goodies

My mother sent my these two vests she saved from the seventies. I'm pretty excited to revive them! Hope they fit!

T'is the season...

... to wear red and green. I wore this green sweater dress/tunic with dress pants and a scarf and matched these chandelier earrings with the dress- the green beads match the color of the dress and the metal matched the buttons on my sleeves. I wore olive green eye shadow and red lip stick to keep it spirited.

Earrings: Christmas gift  about 5 years ago
Dress: purchased about 6 or more years ago

In the spirit

We had an event at work yesterday and, to be in the spirit of the holiday season, I wore green. I matched green rose earrings with a lace top, also featuring roses, and then, a belt with a rose clip attached. I wore a green shirt underneath the lace, which match with the earrings perfectly. I completed the spirited look with red lipstick.... Otherwise, it'd look like I dressed for St. Patrick's Day...

Lace shirt: Bob's, free (!!) with a $10 coupon
Earrings: eBay, came with a few other colors, $4
Green shirt: Rue 21, $5
Belt: came with a skirt
3-in-one Black rose clip: eBay, $4

Tips of the day

Tip 1: putting on your first make up of the day in the car throws your whole day off.

Tip 2: don't let someone who is sitting take a photo of you while you're standing.

Secret Santa

My Secret Santa at work clearly knows me! I'm so excited about my gifts, I don't know whether to sharpen my eyeliners first or transfer all of my purse items into these cute bags!! Thanks, K-ris Kringle!

Crimson Tide

I haven't worn this necklace yet (given to me by my mother), so, I decided to plan an outfit around it. I matched this maroon (or crimson, if you will) skirt with the necklace, as well as other matching pewter-colored jewelry (earrings and bracelet). Since I wore black boots and tights, I wore a charcoal grey cowl-neck top instead of just black, to bring the entire outfit together. Normally, I would wear grey tights, but they didn't match completely and just looked like almost too much was happening with the outfit. Some might argue that I need a belt with this outfit- for the contrast between the shirt and skirt, but the necklace did the job since it was so long. Lastly, I wore charcoal eye-shadow and crimson lip gloss.

Necklace: given to me (mother)- free
Bracelet: given to me (an Aunt)- free

Just rosy

I purchased this flyaway cardigan a couple months ago and haven't gotten to wear it yet. And, since it's been mild for December, I can still get away with wearing tights and heels (rather than boots all the time.) I've been wanting to wear these lace pumps, so I decided to combine the cardigan with them. To pull the articles together with the lace, I wore my signature rose accessories: rose stud earrings and a belt with two matching roses clipped on.

Flyaway Cardigan: Ltd. Commodities, clearance, $4
Lace pumps: Alloy. end of season clearance, $7
Belt: Rue 21, set of 2, clearance, $5
Rose pins: Black: 3-in-1 hair elastic, clip or brooch; Off white: hair clip

Frugal Fashion Friday

Even though this skirt is more for summer, I've been really wanting to wear it lately- it's really fun to match with. I wore a mint green sweater to go with the skirt and a black long-sleeved tee underneath to pull the colors together and to keep the skirt more wintery looking. I wore black rose earrings and a black rose and white rose on my belt. I specifically wore this belt to go with my black buckle boots. For eye makeup, I wore iridescent green eye shadow and black shadow to match my sweater and skirt. I wore magenta lip gloss to match the shirt as well.

Skirt: Kmart, 50% off sale over summer, $8
Sweater: ?, about $7 on clearance a couple years ago
Boots: Just Fab, $30 last year
Earrings: about $3,  four different colors, ordered on eBay last year
Eye makeup: iridescent green: have had many years, by Sebastien; other green and black shadows: Ulta, one free, one part of a gift last year.
Lip gloss: Ulta, free with purchase

so much for being casual....

Since yesterday was technically Friday at work and I wouldn't see too many people, I decided to 'dress down'. So, I opted for a nice and comfy long-sleeved striped tee. But, then I remembered that I had shoes that matched really well and ended up in a skirt anyway! I also matched a necklace, and then earrings to go with the necklace. I wore camel and black shadows and gold lip gloss to match my makeup. Since I needed to dress up the top (even after putting on a skirt), I thought it would be cute to twist my hair up into a scarf for a quick little updo and also wore a blazer. Lastly, I wore a matching scarf with my winter jacket when outdoors (gifted separately from when the shirt was purchased-- the necklace and scarf just happen to match the shirt really well.)

Shirt: Old Navy (a few years ago), $11, sale
Necklace: Gift for either Christmas or birthday one year
Earrings: Rue 21, set of 6 earrings, $???, clearance
Shoes: Charlotte Russe, $15-19, sale
Hair scarf: neck scarf that came with a shirt purchased years ago

Salvaging and resurrecting a belt

Yay, it's Friday! For me, that usually means I like to try something a little more casual than other weekdays (in other words, push the envelope). I matched these cute antique-looking booties with an old leather and rope belt and brushed gold earrings to go with the accents on both the belt and shoes. For makeup, I wore cream and plum shadows and magenta lip crayon, all to match the rope on the belt. To break up all the black, (skirt, tights and long sleeve shirt), I wore a cream colored sweater.

Belt: hand-me-down from an Aunt, Express from the 80s or 90s
Shoes: Frugal Fannies, Chinese Laundry, $35-40
Sweater: Christmas gift a few years ago
Earrings: given to me from Aunt
Makeup: all Ulta: Eye shadows (long case): came with a makeup kit given to me for my birthday; (smaller case): free with minimum purchase; lip crayon: free with minimum purchase

Punk Rock Professional?

Yesterday, I wore this adorable cropped moto jacket. I haven't worn it to work, yet, because I didn't think I could pull it off as business-like enough. So-- I took advantage of the fact that I wasn't meeting with anyone. I paired the jacket with a charcoal striped top, which really made the look more...emo. To go with the accents on the jacket, I wore silver spike earrings and pointy ankle zip-up boots (same color zipper (not shown)). With all of this edginess- for work, at least-- I made sure to wear dress pants and to wear my hair up to keep the outfit more professional. Last, but not least, I wore charcoal eye shadow to go with the striped shirt.

Jacket: T.J. Maxx, $19.99
Earrings; Burlington Coat Factory, 3 pairs, $3.99-$4.99
Ankle Boots: Rue 21, clearance, $7
Striped 3/4 sleeve tee: Rue 21, sale, $5
Eye shadow: Ulta, free with minimum purchase

I'm no prep

Today, I wore a matching lavender and navy sweater and blouse combo along with some matching navy blue pinstripe pants. To complete this preppy look, I wore white oversized pearls, and then an, edgier, pearl and chain multistrand necklace, which looks cute with the cowl neck. I put my hair in a retro low pony to stylize the outfit a little- I wouldn't want people thinking I'm preppy! For makeup, I wore lavender and navy blue shadows along with navy blue gel liner. I wore grey wedge ankle boots (not shown).

Sweater and blouse: both NY&Co, purchased a couple years ago on sale, BOGO free, $??
Necklace: Christmas gift a few years ago, Vera Wang for Kohl's
Earrings: purchased on eBay last year, approx. $2
Pants: purchased online at Alloy a few years ago, $20-30
Eye makeup: Lavender- Ulta, gift; Navy: Avon, from many moons ago; liner: Ulta, part of a makeup kit from a couple years ago. Christmas gift
