Orange you glad I didn't say banana?

Last weekend, I put on real clothes for once, so I had to make it meaningful. I love the rust accessories and apparel I collected last winter: a rust ruffle-sleeve sweater, matching ankle boots, faux fur jacket, a ring and beaded hoop earrings. With all of this, I wore an orange Andy Warhol Marilyn print bag and decided to add a scarf with orange and olive to go. For makeup: rust shadow. For matching pets: Maxwell. 💗🐦

Cute as a button

I was very excited to wear this mock neck button-up midi dress and it made my day going back into the office not as terrible. I scored this from Anne Taylor for $19.99!! Though, I wish I had snagged the camel one faster- I waited too long to check out. With this dress, I wore camel ankle boots and antique gold and beaded hoop earrings (the beads have some browns and black and swirly designs that go with the buttons on the dress.) For outdoors, I wore a camel knit beret, a camel handbag and a long, black coat. For makeup: camel and black shadows and a bright lipstick.

Dress: see above

Hat: NY&Co, last year, sale, approx. $7
Coat: hand-me-down from Godmother

FALL-en flower petals

We were supporting the local businesses downtown and, since I never get to wear regular clothes anymore, I thought it would be cute to wear this country-bumpkin-with-a-flair outfit. Here, I'm wearing a floral summer maxi dress, but to make it wearable for a different season, I added ruffly cold shoulder sweater over it and marigold accessories: beret, belt, ankle boots and handbag. I added a ruffly antique rose shawl rather than wear a jacket since we were in and out of places. For makeup: marigold and navy shadows and a navy liner. Jewelry: pink and gold acrylic earrings.

Split pea

I recently bought this burgundy long sleeve, split tunic last month. Kind of too cute to wear to work with no one around, but it's nice to wear normal clothes for once, these days. With the tunic, I wore black ponte pants and burgundy high heel ankle boots.

For accessories: I added a skinny black belt, a burgundy floppy hat, and a burgundy and chrome necklace and chrome wavy ring with chrome spike earrings.

For makeup: burgundy eye shadow and lip gloss.

Olives and oranges

I recently picked up this skirt at a boutique garage sale for about $5-7. It was a little more snug than I had hoped, but still love the possibilities: burnt orange, olive, teal, (regular) orange (note the other jewelry I laid out that matches). Here, I wore an olive knit poncho with black tights and ankle boots. I was tossed up at first and had originally planned on the burnt orange, but liked the black more. For earrings, I was also tossed up on the burnt orange beaded or the olive flowers. Apparently, I was tossed up on necklaces, too because I wore two - one orange beaded with a medallion and one rust and olive stone. For makeup: olive and burnt orange shadows and teal eyeliner. While in the rain, I wore an olive rain poncho and a teal mask.

Tweed-y Bird

It was a warm fall day the other day, so I wore this mock neck tweed and color-block sleeveless top with a black pencil skirt, charcoal tights and ankle boots to match. For accessories, a charcoal headband and oversized black dot studs. For makeup, to keep a classy look, I went with red lipstick and charcoal and pale yellow shadows.

A little birdie told me...

It may be fall, but I really wanted to wear this multi-color bird scarf with some other colors. Over the summer, I wore it a lot with marigold, but there are so many other colors that I could spend all day making outfits with it! Here, I wore the scarf with a fuchsia skirt and navy cardigan with navy tights and blue ankle boots. For accessories, I wore a fuchsia panda ring and multi-shades-of-pink tassel earrings and carried a fuchsia handbag. For makeup: fuchsia lipstick, navy and teal shadows and teal liner. (if only I could fit every shadow color on my eyelids, I would look like Rainbow Brite!)

Cardigan: hand-me-down from Aunt
Skirt: TJ Maxx, clearance, $8
Scarf: BIRDay gift from a friend
Shoes: Kohl's, sale + coupon, $24
Earrings and ring: jewelry warehouse sale, $2, $1

Election Day

It's (finally) Election Day, so I wore red and blue to be in the spirit. The only white in this outfit is in my mesh red, white and blue beaded bib necklace. To go with the gold tone and the gold zipper no one can see on my navy skirt, I added a gold belt and wore gold stick earrings as well as eyeshadow. Also worn- navy eyeshadow and liner and red lipstick and red rose studs. I wore a red blouse and cardigan with navy tights and blue faux velvet ankle boots. Now, GO VOTE!

Shades of yellow

I decided to pull marigold and burgundy together to match a floral scarf. However, it seems I may have worn two different tones of marigold in looking at these photos. I wore a (lighter) marigold sheer high-low blouse with burgundy ponte pants and marigold chunky heels and a marigold handbag. For accessories: black rose earrings (to go with the flowers on the scarf), yellow tassle earrings, and the scarf. For makeup: marigold and burgundy shadows and burgundy lip gloss.

Beetlejuice III

I think this is the third year (?) I've had this dress and it always reminds me of when a friend said I should wear it for Halloween as Beetlejuice. *sigh* It just so happens I have a Tim Burton handbag in which I pulled out to match this dress intentionally. The black and white colors and stripes match so well but I just wanted to use this handbag since Halloween was the week later. (Week old outfit.)

I wore gold rings to match the gold accents on the handbag and ankle boots.

Dress and earrings: NY&Co., Approx. $30; $8

Mari-gold-member

I tend to wear a lot of marigold- probably not a good color with my hair, but it's great for summer and fall. Here, I wore a marigold wrap-around tunic with black ponte pants and marigold chunky heels. For accessories, a marigold headband and handbag and beaded chandelier earrings with strands of marigold. For makeup: marigold and black shadows with a bright lipstick. Did I say marigold?

Tunic and heels: NY&Co., $35, $20
Pants: Amazon, $14

Southwestern flair

One of my Aunts, who I'm close with, but also who likely inspired my love for clothing and accessories at an early age, sent me a pic a couple weeks ago to see if I liked this outfit together. Apparently, I said "yesssss!!!". She paired a southwestern-color drapey top with a multicolor beaded necklace (I happen to have this same one) and beige perforated, buckle ankle boots.

Halloween season

It's Halloween season and all of my orange-ish colors are too warm to wear right now. But, I do have this awesome Tim Burton hand bag that influenced my outfit last Saturday. I wore a long-sleeved black and white grid high-low, belted top and white and black color-block ankle boots with frayed jeans. I added black and white chandelier earrings and wore black eyeshadow and a bright lipstick.

Top: Birthday gift, Amazon,
Shoes: Amazon, approx. $22
Handbag: gift from Aunt <3
Earrings: Kohl's, clearance, Vera Wang, $5

Pirate

It's not even Halloween yet, but close enough where I was afraid people might think this outfit was me dressing in a costume.

Last Friday, I wore this black and white striped pencil skirt with a white puff sleeve, neck-bow blouse. I couldn't decide which shoes to wear- white
color-block ankle boots or black block-heels.  My husband said the black ones, which is what I was thinking- the white and black ones just seemed to be too much.

For jewelry, I kept it simple with oversized black dot earrings and a three-finger bee and white rose ring.

Skirt: Gap, sale a couple years ago, $8
Blouse: NY&Co., sale, approx. $24
Black heels: The Shoe Dept., Clearance, $9-11

Which headband?

UPDATE

Imagine I'm wearing a burgundy cardigan. Which headband?

**scroll below to see which one I chose**

........................

................................

.....................................................

And, I chose (afteer chhanging the headband multiple times): beige. The rationale? Once I put on the burgundy sweater, it was too much burgundy and the beige got washed out.

Fall jacket

Over the summer, I saw this high-low jacket in a catalog and it screamed my name- literally jumped out of the page and said, "Heather, you need to buy me!". :)  I happened to need a new in-between season jacket, so I decided to order it.

Kid coordinating

One must look 'together' for daycare! A close friend of mine sent me this pic the other day with an explanation on how proud I would be. Her 4-year-old daughter (whom I adore), picked out her whole outfit with matching accessories and everything. Note- even the mint-green leggings go with the design in the bracelet. <3 <3

1950s teacher

I had a cutout from a magazine that featured a midi-pleated skirt and a neck-tie-up blouse. Even though this beige and black color-block blouse doesn't 'match' the burgundy skirt, I pulled the look together and coordinated by wearing a burgundy headband- the red on top and, then, on bottom and the other colors in between. Since the blouse had gold buttons, I wore black and gold tassel earrings and black patent leather heeled Mary Janes that have a gold zipper accent. For makeup, I wore burgundy shadow and lip-gloss.

I like how the outfit came out, but it screams 1950s teacher, librarian or secretary.

Date night- love (and Wu-Tang) are forever

I asked followers how I could wear this marigold mock-neck dress throughout the fall. One person reminded me: thigh-high boots (DUH!) So, on our wedding anniversary, when I needed something, both, casual and somewhat dressy, I wore the dress with leggings and said boots. For the more casual places we went, I added this black floppy hat- Neil Young or Amish? For dinner, I took off the hat and put on a blazer since it was cool out.  I wore long faux-suede and gold tassel earring- the material goes with the faux-suede boots, and a marigold handbag. For makeup: marigold and black shadows and a bright lipstick.
