To mint or not to mint...that is the question

One might argue whether or not to where a spring color in the fall. Let's saaaay...mint. It's not a very fall color, but I wanted to wear this top one more time before I put it away for the season. Besides, it matches this very autumn shawl. With them, I wore a navy pencil skirt, navy tights and navy faux-velvet ankle boots. For accessories, I wore a mint green statement necklace and mint green stud earrings- these are both accented with gold, which go with the zipper on my skirt (not a mistake). For makeup: mint and navy eyeshadows and red lipstick, all to match the shawl. For hair, especially since I had stud earrings in (you wouldn't see them otherwise): a high pony.

Mustard belongs on hot dogs, not ketchup

I heart this outfit! I had my eyes on this high-low tunic for a while and, once there was a 50% off sale, I talked myself into buying it....along with matching heels. This day, I wore the top and heels with skinny pants and matching beaded chandelier earrings. For makeup, I wore mustard and black eye-shadows and a deep plum lipstick.

Picnic table

The day I wore this outfit, we were going to a basketball game and basketball games mean black and white! I wore this adorable black and white gingham, statement-sleeved, mock-neck top with a black pencil skirt during the day and, at night, with jeans- both with black ankle boots. To accentuate the mock neck, I wore my hair in a high pony and added large black dot earrings. For makup, black and white shadow and red lipstick.

Girlscout cookie?

On this day, I was going to a recruiting event, so I wanted to look professional, but cute. I've always been drawn to camel and black together, so I HAD to have this matching skirt and blouse, especially since I knew I had the perfect shoes to go! However, even that day, I thought I should have worn black shoes. With the camel ones, I look like some sort of girlscout cookie (peanut butter pattie or caramel delight, anyone?) I wore gold stick earrings to match the hardware on my boots and the buttons on my top. For makeup: camel and black shadows and gold lip gloss.

Skirt and blouse: NY&Co., 50% off sale, $30/$24**
Boots: The Shoe Dept., last year, $20
Earrings: Charming Charlie, clearance, $4?

**(I paid more than normal for each item than I ever usually would,
but I will be able to do a lot with each item, particularly the skirt).

Not sure where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been

I'm not sure where I was going, but it must have been a warm fall day- perfect for jeans and a shawl. With this combo, I wore ankle moto boots and a floppy hat with patterned dangle earrings (to match the pattern on the shawl). For makeup, I wore charcoal grey eyeshadow.

Shawl: Rue 21, a couple years ago, sale, $15
Boots: The Shoe Dept, $30 (replaced a two-year-old pair I wore down too much)

Brownie

A couple weeks ago, we went for some blues music at a local dive bar, so I wore this charcoal and brown faux-leather sleeve jacket. With it, I wore matching brown boots and a brown tote bag for local shopping and a tiny crossbody for the bar. To go with the hardware on the boots and handbags, I wore long antique-gold earrings. For makeup: dark brown shadow and eyeliner.

This jacket is not only comfy, it's also versatile: I wear it casual or dressy, for work.

Jacket: Venus, a couple years ago, sale, $30
Handbag: eBay, a few years ago, $15?
Crossbody: Bob's Stores (?), years ago, clearance, $7?

Aquaman

It must have been another blistery day when I wore this outfit- wearing a thick sweater and a shawl seems excessive in October, andI know I also had a jacket on, too. I believe we were outside all day, so I was prepared, at least. I wore this aquamarine blue ruffly sweater with a floral-print shawl to go. The shawl has other colors in it, so I matched it with a pair of multi-color earrings that don't get to come out too often. Mostly, I knew, since I would be walking around outside all day, I would want to wear flat boots and a lighter purse, so I went with this rusty-faux-leather crossbody and matching boots. For makeup: aqua blue shadow.

Sweater: Nordstrom Rack, $15
Shawl: given to be from Godmother
Earrings: given to me from Aunt, from the 80s
Boots: Amazon, $20-30, last year

Blood red....for Halloween, of course

On the day I wore this outfit, I was shopping (again) with my mother, and, then, going to a paint night. But, it was a pretty cold day, so I opted for a burgundy, cutout sweater. It's much cuter without a long sleeved shirt underneath, but it was too chilly for that (the arms have ruffly cut-outs that you would normally be able to see better). I wore matching ankle boots and a lace and floral printed scarf and black rose earrings to go. For makeup: burgundy eye shadow and lip gloss.

Sweater: Express, sale, last year, $20
Boots: Rue 21, clearance, last year, $15
Scarf: Ltd. Commodities, clearance, a few years ago, $3

Camel not on hump day

I picked up this top in the early spring and haven't gotten to wear it much ( I have the tendency to buy casual clothes I never get to wear since I'm always dressed for work). On this day, I was shopping at the mall, so I thought it was, both, comfortable and fashionable. Since it didn't look great with a cardigan, I threw on a long sleeved tee to wear underneath. It worked out okay once I put a matching scarf on. I wore jeans and camel ankle boots. For makeup: camel and black eye shadows and gold lipgloss. For earrings: black thread-through stick earrings.

Top: Charmed & Dangerous (local boutique), $24
Boots: Amazon, $20?
Earrings: Amazon, set of 3, $6
Scarf: gift shop in Alaska, $5

"I, too, am strange and unusual"

I had been dying to wear this top, so I waited for a Friday and also a day we would have a basketball game since the black and white would be appropriate. However, I was (innocently) 'Beetlejuiced' again. For work, I wore this striped, statement sleeve top with black dress pants; at night: jeans- both with ankle boots. I wore black rose earrings and a doily-lace necklace to go with the black lace on the sleeves. Even more, I swapped to my Tim Burton handbag and Beetlejuice's outfit matched perfectly with my top! For makeup- black and white shadows.

Top: JC Penney, $5!!!!!!
Necklace: Rosegal, $5
Earrings: have had
Handbag: gift from my Aunt
Ankle boots: New York & Co., last year, $30
