Retro-casz

I was out and about today and it was rainy, so I wore this Marilyn sweatshirt with matching earrings, gold flats, a gold handbag and a gold headband. I wore my eyeliner and hair retro to go with the Marilyn era.

Sweatshirt (all lace in the back): $5, Rue 21, clearance
Flats: have had for years, Target
Handbag: birthday gift years ago, from Target
Earrings (came with two other pairs of earrings): $3, Rue 21, clearance
Headband: 3-pk, pharmacy

Layers

We went to Salem yesterday, so I had to be sure to wear black and be prepared to walk around.  But, it's also warm during the day and cooler at night, so I was sure to wear a tee and bring along a crocheted-back charcoal colored long sleeved shirt and wore a shawl. I matched black skinny pants and charcoal flats to go with my shawl, and finished off the look for fall with my rimmed hat. I wore dangly earrings to complement the hat and my long hair and to refrain from looking like a pilgrim.

Shawl: have had about 12 years, target
Flats: Rue 21, $7(?), a couple years ago
Pants: TJ Maxx, $12.99
Long sleeved crocheted back shirt: $9.99 in Maine last year
Hat: Kohl's, $7, clearance

Country bumpkin

Dressed for a day of craft fairs and antiquing. I've been eager to wear this outfit for a while, even though I look a little like Neil Young. :)
I wore a crocheted vest with a black rim hat, jeans and boots. I matched this old belt from when my mother was younger with the boots and wore earrings to match the hardware on both. I finished off this look with pig tails. I'm ready for a fall day out in the country.
Vest: Kohl's, $14, clearance
Hat: Kohl's, $7, clearance
Belt: my mother's from the 70s/80s
Hoops: have had for some years now
Boots: Amazon, $20-30, two years ago (this is my third pair, my favorites)

Leather and lace

For our anniversary dinner, I wore a high-low dress I haven't worn yet (but have had for over a year) with leggings, ankle boots and a moto jacket. Loved this romantic and badass look. I paired the flowers on the dress with black rose earrings and completed the dressed up look with a twist in my hair and curls.

Dress: Bob's stores, $11 on clearance last year
Leggings: Vera Wang, given to me from my aunt
Booties: $5, Rue 21, clearance
Jacket: $20, TJ Maxx

Gold member

As per usual, I was excited to try out a new pair of shoes. So, I wore these nude patent leather t-straps with gold spikes, with a gold cowl neck sweater I've had for a while. I originally tried it out with a matching nude tank underneath, but opted for the black since the nude just didn't work out right, even with the shoes. I wore gold spike earrings to go with the embellishments on the shoes and to match the sweater. I had to dress up for work again, which the gold sweater helped with, but to keep it professional, I wore a pencil skirt and a blazer with matching tights.

Since I was having a bad hair day, I needed to wear it up. Below you will find my inspiration for today's 'do and what it really looked like when I attempted it. (One day I'll get this one...I haven't been able to master it yet.) I wore gold and black eye shadows, gold lip gloss and bronzer.

Blazer: free, Bob's stores, coupon(s)
Sweater: Kohl's??, years ago, Candie's
Shoes: Charlotte Russe, $20
Makeup: lip gloss, eye shadows and bronzer- all Ulta, all free except lip gloss with min. purchase
Head band: thin scarf that came with a shirt I purchased about 15 years ago.

It's all about the shapes, bout the shapes...

I've been eager to match these shoes with this scarf since they came in a few weeks ago...for obvious reasons-- they go great together!!! I matched the shoes and scarf with black ankle pants and black sweater with a beige blazer. To go with the scarf, I wore square shaped hoops and an angular bracelet, all with matching eye shadow and lip gloss!

Shoes: Charlotte Russe, sale, $20
Scarf: Ltd. Commodities, clearance, $5
Blazer: hand me down from my aunt
Sweater: hand me down from my aunt, brand new with tags...
Earrings: given to me from another sunny
Bracelet: given to me from the same, other aunt
Eye shadow & lip gloss: both free with minimum purchase at Ulta

Guest appearance

This is one of our grad assistants at work, Cara. I liked her outfit so much today, I thought she should be featured in today's blog post. Cara wore a cute skater skirt with ankle boots (kept professional with matching tights), a maroon blouse and a leopard print scarf. The scarf works well with this outfit since the rest of the outfit is solid colors; adds a nice flare without all of the plain colors blending together.

Matchy matchy

This is the first time I've worn this shirt, and I was excited when I realized how many things I had to match it. Once I put it on, I remembered this oversized purse I received for my birthday years ago. Then, I remembered a matching leather cuff to go with the handles on the bag and a necklace/earring set that goes well with the shirt, also a gift years ago. I had a blazer, for the cool breeze outside, and an eye shadow quad that also matched great.

Shirt: Rue 21, $3.50
Blazer: given to me from aunt
Necklace/earrings: gift
Handbag: gift
Belt: my husband's
Eye shadow: free when spent a minimum amount at Ulta
Boots: Gap, years ago, $15

Rainy casual day

It was a rainy day, not to mention chilly. But, it was a good chance to wear this hooded parka. I wore black skinny pants with nude flats, a low key bun and head wrap (an old cloth belt the cake with some shorts, tied around twice and into a bow at the nape of my neck). I was mostly excited to match these great chandelier earrings with the parka. I also matched olive glimmer eye shadow.

Parka: Vera Wang, Kohl's, $11
Skinny pants: TJ Maxx, $12.99
Earrings: a Christmas gift about 5 years ago.
Head band: see above

More shoes!!

I just received two more pairs of shoes I ordered! $7.49 each! I also got a cute, black halter maxi dress for $4.99 and a bathing suit for $5 (both pieces). All from Alloy on clearance.

Pretty in.... Plaid?

The weather got cooler real fast, which gave me a chance to wear this shirt I've been anxiously waiting to wear. I purchased it on clearance over the summer from a Christmas catalog I like, believe it or not. Since it was pretty chilly this morning and night, I matched this plaid blazer with it. The blazer inspired be to wear gold eye shadow and a gold headband. I wore my hair in a high messy bun, pinned, and 'old lady' earrings to go with the vintage look of the shirt.

Shirt: Ltd commodities, $8
Jacket: given to my from my godmother
Pants: NY&co., half off sale a couple years ago
Shoes: Alloy, a few years ago, $20
Earrings: given to me
